MÖTLEY CRÜE was formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1981 by bassist Nikki Sixx and drummer Tommy Lee.
Mick's band name suggestion was "Mottley Cru."

Sixx wrote pretty much all of MÖTLEY CRÜE's music.
The 1984 album "Shout at the Devil "became the band's first platinum album, with over a million copies sold.
MÖTLEY CRÜE toured with Ozzy Osbourne and was often seen partying with them.
1985's Theatre of Pain hit the number six on the Billboard chart and had gone quadruple platinum.
The band recorded "Too Fast for Love" in three days. Of course, they were drunk the whole time.
MÖTLEY CRÜE opened for KISS for five shows.
Gene Simmons kicked them off the tour, unhappy with the band's behavior.

In the 90s, Tommy Lee left the Crüe to focus on his solo career.
He returned in 2004.
Samantha Maloney was the band's only female member.
In the summer of 2022, MÖTLEY CRÜE would embark on The Stadium Tour with DEF LEPPARD, POISON, and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS
